Man Utd rule themselves out of Bruno Fernandes transfer

MANCHESTER UNITED have reportedly ruled themselves out of a deal for Bruno Fernandes.

The Red Devils pulled the plug on potentially signing Paulo Dybala from Juventus on Sunday afternoon.
But according to BBC Sport, Manchester Unitedhave also distanced themselves from the addition of Sporting Lisbon midfielder Fernandes.
The Portugal international has been widely tipped to move to Old Trafford all summer.
Fernandes is a hot property having scored 32 goals and laid on 18 assists across all competitions for Sporting last term.
Tottenham have also been linked with a move for the 24-year-old, who has also been mentioned as a possible target for Manchester City and Liverpool previously.
BBC Sport suggest that having now turned their attentions away from Dybala, United do not want Fernandes either. That is in contrast to reports from Spain and Portugal that a bid is imminent for the £64million-rated ace.
That leaves the Red Devils in a curious position in the final week of the window, which shuts for Premier League clubs at 5pm on Thursday.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made two signings in Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka with Leicester City defender Harry Maguire poised to become his third acquisition.
Maguire has been in Manchester over the weekend to complete an £80m switch which will make him the most expensive defender of all time.
Sean Longstaff of Newcastle United is one player who was previously mentioned as a target but speculation has since died down after the Magpies reportedly demanded £50m for the player.
It could, therefore, be that United go without any extra additions in midfield.
BBC Sport also report that the club may opt not to sign a replacement for Romelu Lukaku.
The Belgian was set to join Juve in a swap deal for Dybala but that switch is now dead due to United’s doubts over the Argentine’s willingness to join them.
Lukaku has previously been linked to Inter Milan, who could look to revisit their interest although they have had issues financing a potential deal for the striker, who Antonio Conte is desperate to sign.
Inter reportedly had a £54m bid rejected for the player earlier this summer but United want to at least recoup the £75m they paid to Everton for Lukaku two summers ago.
United boss Solskjaer is understood to be happy with his attacking options after Mason Greenwood’s pre-season emergence.
The 17-year-old academy starlet scored 34 goals for the under-23s last term and also scored in two of United’s friendlies, netting against Leeds United and Inter Milan.
