Liverpool star Sadio Mane was lucky to stay on the field against Manchester City after replays showed him kicking out at Fernandinho. The title rivals played out a rather dull 0-0 draw at Anfield that left both teams level at the top of the table with Maurizio Sarri’s Chelsea side. However, tempers flared between Mane and Fernandinho after 33 minutes when the Brazilian fouled the Senegalese forward near the halfway line. As Mane was lying on the ground, he threw a leg out at Fernandinho before the two squared up to one another.
The Brazilian then put his hands on Mane’s face but the duo both escaped a caution from referee Martin Atkinson. City will feel they should have left Anfield with all three points after Riyad Mahrez blazed a penalty over the bar with five minutes left.
Virgil van Dijk flipped over Leroy Sane in the box but Maherz took penalty duties off of Gabriel Jesus and the Algerian failed to convert.
