EPL: Arsenal make statement on replacing Unai Emery with Mourinho

Arsenal has played down claims that the football head of the club, Raul Sanllehi, has recently met Jose Mourinho. On Saturday, Wolves held the Gunners to a 1-1 draw, increasing pressure on Unai Emery manager.

Emery has supervised only two wins of their last nine matches in the Premier League. Also on Wednesday, the Gunners were knocked out of the Carabao Cup as they allowed a two-goal lead slip to draw 5-5 with a youthful Liverpool side before losing on penalties.

And reports emerged on Sunday, that Mourinho had recently dined with Sanllehi, with Arsenal considering the former Chelsea boss as a potential replacement for Emery.
Sources close to the club however insist that the rumoured meeting did not happen, with Sanllehi having not met Mourinho in person for a number of years.
Emery replaced Arsene Wenger in the summer of 2018.
