MANCHESTER UNITED have reportedly agreed terms on an £80million deal for Leicester star Harry Maguire.
United have been strongly linked with the centre-back as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to strengthen his squad.
An initial £70m bid had reportedly been rejected earlier this month but United were keen to get their man and are seemingly close to doing so.
It seems Manchester United have now stumped up more cash to prise Maguire away from Leicester, who want a world-record fee to sell the player.
Bleacher Report’s Dean Jones posted on Twitter: “United finally agreeing terms on the £80m Maguire deal.”
Should a deal be finalised, Maguire would become the third Manchester United signing this summer.
Solskjaer has brought Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka to the club with both impressing during a pre-season tour of Australia and Asia.
United have been linked with Maguire since he impressed with England during last summer’s World Cup with Solskjaer's predecessor Jose Mourinho also a fan of the defender.
The Red Devils are in desperate need of strengthening, especially when it comes to their defence, after they leaked 54 goals in the Premier League last season.
However, Manchester United are yet to concede a goal in three pre-season matches.
But Solskjaer knows that recruitment could be key to a successful season.
“As I’ve said a few times, we’re working on one or two cases, but my objective here now is we’ve got to get ready for the games and training sessions,” the Norwegian said.
