ENGLAND won their first ever Cricket World after an incredible final at Lord's which was decided in a Super Over by Ben Stokes, leaving New Zealand as heartbroken runners-up.
The final was settled in incredible fashion, after the contest ended in a tie and was therefore decided in a one-off 'Super Over'.
England set the Black Caps 16 runs to win the World Cup in their six deliveries, but they could only manage 15.
Captain Eoin Morgan lifts the World Cup trophy as England hit more boundaries.
England hero Ben Stokes said he was lost for words after the match.
"All the hard work over the last four years, to get here and be champions of the world is an amazing feeling," he said.
"Playing against New Zealand is always going to be a battle."
Opening batsman Jonny Bairstow hailed Stokes and Jos Buttler, claiming it was their partnership that won England the match.
He said: "Elated. But first of all, massive commiserations to the New Zealand boys.
"It was one hell of a game – edging one way, then another. They’ve had one hell of a tournament.
"The way the guys came out in that Super Overs, and Stokesy was huge. Stokesy and Jos' partnership won us the game at the end of the day.
