Mauricio Pochettino is plotting an £85million spending spree this January with Eric Bailly a key target of the Tottenham boss, reports say. Bailly is open to a move in the January transfer window after falling out of favour with Jose Mourinho, with Arsenal also monitoring the centre-back. It is unclear if Manchester United would be interested in selling Bailly, but Tottenham are ready to pounce.
The Express claim Pochettino has identified Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele as a priority target and also wants to sign Bailly. Ndombele is valued at around £55m by his club, and Tottenham saw a £40m offer knocked back last summer. Tottenham failed to make a single signing during the summer and Pochettino is eager to bring in reinforcements in the January window.
The reminder of the £85m would be spent on Bailly, who United will not let go for less than the £30m they paid for the defender in 2016.
Bailly suffered the humiliation of being substituted after just 18 minutes against Newcastle last week. The 24-year-old was signed by Mourinho and immediately became his No.1 centre-back, but has seen his stock dramatically decline this season. United have struggled for consistency this campaign and have already registered three defeats in the Premier League.
