FA to investigate touchline comments made by Jose Mourinho during Newcastle win

The Football Association are set to launch an investigation into some of the touchline comments made by Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho during Saturday’s 3-2 win over Newcastle United. The United boss was recorded on camera appearing to speak in Portuguese as he walked off the Old Trafford pitch following the comeback win.

Mourinho could be in line for a touchline ban if the FA deem he used either offensive, insulting or abusive language in that situation. The Manchester United manager’s position has been under immense scrutiny for weeks, with reports ahead of Saturday’s fixture suggesting he would not last the weekend.

The club have since moved to rubbish those reports which failed materialise.

In his post-match press conference after the win over Newcastle, Mourinho addressed the speculation  spoke out against a perceived ‘manhunt’ against him. Former United striker and captain Wayne Rooney received a two-match ban in 2011 after he shouted expletives at a broadcast camera at Upton Park.
