Cristiano Ronaldo has been handed just a one match Champions League ban for his clash with Jeison Murillo on his debut for Juventus in the competition, meaning he’s free to face his former club Manchester United. The Portuguese left the field in tears after a clash with the Valencia centre-half, where he appeared to tug the Colombian’s hair. There were fears that he would be handed a three-match ban for the incident, which would see him be suspended for both the away trip to Old Trafford and a home tie with his old side, but Ronaldo will now be available for both clashes.
He will no doubt relish the opportunity to shine against former manager Jose Mourinho, who worked with his compatriot at Real Madrid, and United fans will be sure to give him a hero’s welcome.
Ronaldo will, however, miss Tuesday night’s meeting with Young Boys at the Allianz Stadium. Juventus are currently second in the group after their 2-0 win over Valencia in their opening match, with United topping Group H following a routine 3-0 win in Bern.
