Rob Holding has won two caps for the England under-21 team.
Arsenal are in advanced talks to sign Bolton Wanderers defender Rob Holding, sources close to the club have told ESPN FC.
Holding,
20, has been tracked by the Gunners all summer after he burst onto the
first-team scene, making 30 appearances in all competitions.
The
centre-back came through the ranks at Bolton and was one of their
shining lights last season despite their relegation from the
Championship.
He was rewarded for his fine performances by
scooping the Bolton Player of the Year award and he was also a member of
England under-21 squad that won the Toulon tournament earlier this
summer.
Arsene Wenger's scouts have been keeping tabs on Holding's
progress throughout and they see him as one for the future at the
Emirates.
Bournemouth were also keen on signing Holding, but Arsenal have moved
quickly to try and agree a deal to bring him to North London.
Arsenal are close to agreeing a fee in the region of £2 million with personal terms unlikely to cause any issues.
If
Holding does secure his move to Arsenal he will become Wenger's third
signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Granit Xhaka and Takuma
Asano.
