Paul Pogba's agent has said Juventus want to renew the midfielder's
contract and that he remains happy in Turin, cooling speculation that a
move to Manchester United is edging closer.
Sources have told ESPN FC in recent days that United are hoping to speak to Pogba, 23, this week to try to convince him to return to Old Trafford, with intermediaries already having agreed basic terms with both Juventus and the player's agent.
Their hopes of signing the France international, whose preference had been to join Real Madrid, were given a further boost as Sky Sports News reported on Sunday that the European champions had ended their interest for financial reasons.
However, Italian reports have long suggested that Juve remain highly reluctant to sell, and Pogba's agent, Mino Raiola, has suggested he could now prolong his stay with the Italian champions.
"There is a lot of talk about Paul's future, but maybe he will not leave Juventus," Raiola, who also represents new United signings Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, told The Times.
"He is in no rush to leave, and Juventus do not want him to go. They want him to renew his contract. Paul is not desperate to move. We are very happy at Juventus and they are a club that want to keep their star players."
The agent added that "several big clubs" remain interested in Pogba.
La Gazzetta dello Sport reported on Monday that United are offering €100 million up front for Pogba with a further €23m in bonuses, and a €15m annual salary.
However, the Italian newspaper said Juve remain determined to retain the player they signed after the expiry of his United contract in 2012.
Spanish newspaper AS had earlier reported that United had agreed to meet Juve's €120m asking price and had accepted Pogba's salary demands.
