Manchester United FC news: Carlo Ancelotti reveals talks with Sir Alex Ferguson about manager's job

Manchester United FC news Carlo Ancelotti was sounded out about taking over from Alex Ferguson

When Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013, a number of high profile names were linked with the manager’s job before David Moyes was appointed.
Carlo Ancelotti was one of those, but it didn’t happen as the successful Italian had another job lined up.
Answering a fan’s question in Four Four Two about the possibility, he said: “After [Ferguson] retired in 2013, he spoke to me, but I had already given my word to Real Madrid."
“Manchester United were too late, But otherwise I would have been interested in going to Old Trafford.”
Ancelotti won the Champions League and Spanish Cup in his first season at Real, but lost his job in the second year and will now take over from Pep Guardiola at Bayern Munich in the summer.
Meanwhile, Jose Mourinho will assume management duties at Old Trafford.
