Manchester City are ready to splash £39million on Athletic Bilbao defender Aymeric Laporte.
Incoming boss Pep Guardiola has prioritised strengthening the centre of his defence this summer and he is a big fan of 22-year-old.
City have reportedly been in talks with Bilbao for a number of weeks as they try to thrash out a deal.
And now, according to Cadena SER, the Premier League side have agreed to activate France Under-21 international Laporte's £39m release-clause.
City had been hoping to tie up a deal worth around £30m, but Bilbao have refused to budge on their asking price.
